At Cause Right, we do cause marketing also known as cause-related marketing, two similar, but slightly different forms of marketing. Both involve a collaborative effort between a for-profit brand or business and a non-profit organization with a mutual benefit to all parties. At Cause Right we use the term cause marketing in reference to the marketing efforts preformed by our for-profit brand, partnered with businesses, social and charitable causes.

Another related but separate idealism we sometimes help with is corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate giving. Corporate social responsibility can (but not always) go beyond guaranteeing to engage in actions that further social good. This pursuit of a higher ethical standard drives good public relations for the business among other benefits. Corporate giving normally involves a specific donation that is tax-deductible.

How should you approach cause marketing?

It can come in many forms in many industries, and brands. However, there are some common points that should be considered for a successful partnership or campaign.

We'll help you partner with something you believe in – Cause marketing works best if the cause is something that you, your employees and staff believe in. If the whole company gets behind the concept, they will work harder and feel more passionate about helping. This collective energy will then be reflected in the outcome of your campaign.

Find a related cause – There are plenty of examples of seemingly random partnerships that have been very successful, but we recommend your cause marketing be something your passionate about, also if the cause is related in some way to your brand you will have a greater connection to the cause.

"The majority of consumers believe brands should integrate social good directly into their business, and they confirm this with their purchasing choices. But it’s not all about raising funds, it's also about raising awareness."

The truth is, you don’t have to be a super company to gain the benefits of cause marketing!

Six ways your business can benefit and help the world with cause marketing in the process.

  • Cause marketing can create a lasting impact on sales -
Supporting a cause has a powerful impact on how shopper’s view your brand. Cause marketing becomes a image point of awareness in your client's or customers mind about how they view your products or services and increases brand loyalty. It’s been proven that consumers will pay more for cause-related products and services!

  • Creating a good cause for your brand increases your client or customers loyalty and trust -Cause marketing creates goodwill between you and consumers. This builds continued loyalty and trust between your brand and your clients or customers.

  • How cause marketing helps to target your best audience -
Depending on the cause your brand is best suited to partner with, each cause can have different groups of people that it may appeal to. For example, if you were to partner with a charity working to provide clean water, this would bring in individuals interested in helping supply clean water to people who have none or very little.

  • Every cause can bring in different types of consumers to your door – We'll help you make sure your clients or customers find satisfaction in what you have to offer and that your business is ready to receive them.

  • Create a Unique Selling Proposition and distinguish yourself from your competitors -We live in a very competitive marketplace. Major corporations are well aware of this and it has become increasingly harder to stand out among the competition. Cause-related marketing may be just the edge you need. When a consumer is choosing between similar products or services the deciding point can come down to a lower price or claimed superior product. However, in these current times, and partially due to the influx of social responsibility movements, statistics prove more people are likely to choose one product over another if it supports a worthy cause!

  • Help satisfy your clients, customers and even employee's growing expectations -People care more deeply, and research who they do business with more thoroughly. With the current consumer mindset and everything going on in the world today, as a business owner it’s more important than ever that you embrace consumers ideas and increase your appeal to all individuals – for a business this now includes supporting their causes.
